Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins has been quietly fighting a brain tumor since 2006. Revealing the shocking news in the latest issue of PEOPLE magazine, Watkins says she was diagnosed in 2006 and later underwent a seven hour surgical procedure to have the tumor removed. Reportedly enduring surgery that forced doctors to make a cut behind her ear, later peeling the tumor from her brain stem, Watkins appeared on the NBC distributed reality competition ‘Celebrity Apprentice’. Admitting that she struggled through the season due to the tumor, the TLC singer admits that she felt it was best to keep the tumor secret and not let it be known to the public. “I didn’t want pity. I was there to help sick children,” Watkins recalls of taping her celebrated appearance on Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice earlier this year. The appearance, which included extensive challenges, provided T-Boz (who suffers from the blood disorder sickle cell anemia) an opportunity to raise funds for the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia. In related news, T-Boz and TLC pal Chilli (Rozanda Thomas) are due to perform at the Las Vegas hosted Justin Timberlake and Friends Concert this month. Set to take the stage together October 17, the duo, along with other celebrities, will perform to benefit Shriners Hospital For Children. The concert, which benefits Shriners Hospital for Children, is part of a week-long charity event that includes the 2009 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open golf tournament, which runs from Oct. 12-18.
