In addition to touring not once across North America and much of the world in 2009 but, twice, Britney Spears is now rumored to be working on a second “Greatest Hits” album. While all of this is great news for the once embattled star, some believe the “Circus” singer is headed for an extended break from music. According to GimmeBritney, Spears has been at work on a number of songs that will be added to a compilation of her last two albums “Blackout” and “Circus”. The songs, along with the remainder of the disc, will then be released in September, just in time for Spears’ second North American trek with Ciara and Kristinia DeBarge. While Spears’ “Blackout” and “Circus” have faired well it does seem strange that she would release another “Greatest Hits” package instead of a re-issue of “Circus” toward the end of the year. Is Britney ready for a break ? With five singles from ‘Circus,” multiple tours, and the subpar, in comparison to past concerts, performances, it might be safe to argue that Spears has had enough of performing and is setting herself up for a hiatus. Afterall, Spears made a stellar comeback after being counted out and lambasted for her VMA peformance of “Gimme More” and years of tabloid fodder involving ex-husband Kevin Federline. But of course, this is all speculation and no statement has been issued from Spears’ management. What can be confirmed however, is that Spears has worked with Max Martin, who she wrote about on Twitter stating “In Stockholm in the studio with Max Martin”. Martin, who assisted Spears on the breakthrough hit singles “Baby One More Time” and “Oops I Did It Again,” is said to be on tap for a forthcoming project. An official release date has not been revealed for Spears’ rumored re-release or Greatest Hits album. Her tour with Ciara and Kristinia DeBarge does however kick off August 20 in Hamilton, ON. The extended tour also includes a three show stint at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
