Actress/Soul singer Jill Scott is happy with the recent birth of her son Jett but, with that blessing came an unexpected change. According to the former “Golden” singer, the celebrated engagement to musician Lil’ John Roberts and their anticipated wedding is a thing of the past. Scott, currently writing for her next album, broke the news with Essence Tuesday, stating “John and I are no longer together”. “When you have a baby you’re dealing with a lot of emotions and I don’t know how much of it had to do with us breaking up, but it happens,” Scott told the magazine after being asked how Roberts was adjusting to their son Jett. News of Scott’s engagement and subsequent ‘expecting status’ was met with much excitement and well wishes from fans last year. Roberts had been by Scott’s side for much of the pregnancy and was mentioned in various interviews during promotional jaunts for the HBO series ‘No.1 Ladies Detective Agency’. A wedding was also confirmed to take place at one point but, was later put on hold with Scott telling JET magazine “Weâre just taking it as slow as we can.” While Scott admits they are no longer together, she says Roberts will continue to be by her side when it comes to their son. “We definitely love our son and we are co-parenting and working on being friends. It is what it is.
