American Idol winning singer Fantasia has a lot on her plate this year, one of the things she admits she’s focused on is her next album. While the effort is currently untitled, Fantasia says “I want to reach back to the audience I had from Idol. What I want is a timeless record”. Does that sound like a shift back to “Free Yourself,” her 2004 debut ? If so Fantasia may be headed back to performing songs like “Truth Is,” “Ain’t Gon Beg You” and the soul-stirring “Free Yourself” instead of venturing out on songs like “Hood Boy” (the lead single from her 2006 effort). No matter what comes across the table music wise, Fantasia learned more about handling business this year. After nearly loosing her home in North Carolina, Fantasia told Charlotte’s WCNC that she’s excited to be moving forward with life — this time with a watchful eye. “I put my trust in other men — people that said they cared about me, said they loved me…. I felt like all I had to do was get the mike, get on the stage and sing and everything else behind me would be taken care of but it didn’t happen that way”. “I put my life in other people’s hands that didn’t quite take care of it like I would have,” Fantasia went on to say after revealing the fact that the money was always there. Today, the foreclosure troubles and those she used to have working for her are gone… In related news, Fantasia is stepping back onstage for another run of “The Color Purple” this summer. She will also take on reality television via a soon to be aired series at VH1.
