It appears that Eminem’s break from Hip Hop and recent confessions of drug use in both his album and Vibe Magazine has taken him to the top ! — the top of the charts that is.. After nearly a day on shelves, industry sources with Hits Daily Double say Eminem’s “Relapse” album is headed for a no.1 debut next week. But the big question is, will Eminem top U2’s record setting debut at Billboard this spring ? U2, debuting in the 480k range in March, currently holds the record for 2009s best selling debut. Eminem, with two major singles on the chart, is likely to sell near 550,000 copies according to estimates released late Tuesday. Some say the former “Slim Shady” rapper may even move 600,000 copies of the album. Even if Eminem moves 600,000 copies in his first week the rapper is still down from 2004s hit album “Encore” which moved over 700,000 copies in its first week — “Encore” went on to sell over 5.1 million copies in the United States alone. In related news, new albums from Tori Amos, Lionel Richie, Busta Rhymes and Method Man & Redman are also moving at retail. At press time, there was no word on whether any of their efforts would make the top 10.
