Legendary front-man of the Gap Band Charlie Wilson continues to dominate the Urban Adult Contemporary chart with his hit song âThere Goes My Baby.â The Single, off Wilsonâs sophomore Jive Records release, Uncle Charlie, currently ranks No. 1 for the seventh week in a row. Wilson breaks his previous record of six consecutive weeks at No. 1, that was held by his smash single âCharlie, Last Name Wilson,â from his gold-certified Jive debut album of the same name. âThere Goes My Baby,â written by multiple Grammy winner Babyface and Calvin Richardson, describes a man who falls in love with a woman at first sight. Wilson said he knew it was a âwinnerâ when her first heard it. The next single will be âCanât Live Without You,â produced by the Underdogs. The album title, Uncle Charlie refers to Wilsonâs status as the âde facto father of new jack swingâ and his influence over some of todayâs top musicians and singers. Wilson is considered one of the greatest and most distinctive voices in R&B. Classic hit singles such as âOutstandingâ and âYou Dropped a Bomb on Meâ are among the most sampled tunes by contemporary Rap and R&B artists. Uncle Charlie also features collaborations with Snoop Dogg and T-Pain.
