R&B singer/songwriter Keri Hilson says “you can buy the chain, but you can’t buy respect” on her remix of Soulja Boy’s “Turn My Swag On”. Hilson’s remix comes nearly a week after a single titled “Turnin’ Me Off” was released. “Turnin’ Me Off,” a remix of the singer’s hit single with Lil Wayne, raised eyebrows when it was deemed to have taken shots at Beyonce and Ciara. (story here) Since then however, Hilson has claimed the song is not about Ciara or anyone in particular. Monday, “Turn My Swag On” hit the net and picked up where the singer left off, stating “Everytime they see me they say I look good. If you be hating just be mad at yourself.” Clearly making mention of last week’s drama surrounding the single, which Hilson says was leaked after Producer Polow Da Don agreed that it should not be released, Hilson sings “I been getting haters like you wouldn’t believe. I bet you think this song is about you. Don’t you.” In related news, Keri Hilson nabbed Kanye West for the video/single “Make Love”. West, who will appear on this week’s American Idol broadcast, is Hilson’s love interest in the video. (Watch Here) Keri Hilson’s debut album, “In A Perfect World,” is slated for release March 24.
