Singer/songwriter Kandi Burruss is officially the new cast member of BRAVO’s hit reality series “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” ! Burruss, also known for a stint in the hit 90s R&B group Xscape, will, according to Hollywood Insider, replace Deshawn Snow on the forthcoming season. “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” since its inception during the fall of 2008, garnered an average of 1.3 million viewers per episode, making it BRAVO’s most successful series since Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Burruss, who also goes by the recording name Kandi (sans 2000 hit “Don’t Think I’m Not”), has in recent years become an established songwriter. In fact, Kandi was one of the first women to win an ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Award. Speaking candidly with Singersroom, Burruss, who also has a 6-year-old daughter, says winning the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Award for her contribution to TLC’s hit album “Fanmail” was life changing: “I really grew up as a woman, realizing I can stand on my own and make things happen for myself.” The second season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” is expected to premiere Summer-Fall 2009.
