R&B singer J. Holiday is well aware of that sophomore album curse, especially since his debut album “Back Of My Lac” was Grammy-nominated right out the gate. “I’m just trying to stay consistent,” J. Holiday told Singersroom at New York’s S.O.B.’s recently. “I’ve been fortunate enough to have creative control with both of my albums.” While the singer admits that he’s doing well with Capitol, his label home, he admits to feeling comfortable enough to turn down records. “I’ve actually turned down records,” says Holiday when asked about his decision to shy away from popular Hip Hop collaborations. “It’s not about the whoo ha for me. I refuse to be on a song I don’t agree with.” With that said, Holiday has been seen on a few Hip Hop based records including Fat Joe’s ” I Won’t Tell” but says when it comes to his voice “it has to be the right record.” “I don’t want to do records that are similar to other records that are out.” J. Holiday’s sophomore effort “Round 2,” led by single “It’s Yours,” is due to hit stores and digital retailers March 9 via Capitol Records.
