Welsh singer Duffy’s debut album “Rockferry” has been named the best-selling album of 2008 in the UK. According to the UK Official Charts Company (OCC), Duffy’s “Rockferry” moved 1.7 million copies, beating out Take That’s “The Circus” (1.5 million), Kings of Leon’s “Only By Night” and Leona Lewis’ “Spirit”. Alexandra Burke, the recent winner of ‘The X Factor,’ earned the biggest-selling single of 2008 with her cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”. “Hallelujah” sold 888,000 copies in just two weeks. Duffy’s single “Mercy” followed “Hallelujah” with 536,000 copies sold. Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” was also noted in the top five.
