X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke says she’s not afraid to channel old school Soul and R&B artists like Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight or even Al Green on her forthcoming debut. “It’s gonna be some old school meets new school, where it was real music like Aretha, Gladys Knight, Al Green, with a pop twist.” Burke won the recently completed season of the UK’s X-Factor, similar to the U.S. ratings blockbuster American Idol. Following Leona Lewis, a previous winner, Burke says she “absolutely adores” Beyonce. Burke performed with Beyonce during the season finale of the show. While a release has not been set for Burke’s project, it is rumored hit stores late next year.
