Kanye West earned his third no.1 with “808s & Heartbreak” amongst a week of tumbling sales figures for Ludacris and Beyonce. According to Nielsen Soundscan/Billboard, Kanye’s album sold 450,000 copies in the U.S., his lowest debut on the chart since “The College Dropout” (2004). This week’s second entry, Ludacris’ new album “Theater Of The Mind” debuted at no.5 with 213,000 copies, a surprisingly low debut for the ‘Disturbing Tha Peace’ star. It is also the first time one of the rapper’s albums debuted anywhere but No. 1 since 2001’s “Word of Mouf”. Beyonce, who released “I Am…Sasha Fierce” last month took a nosedive this week, sliding from 1-4 with 257,000 copies sold. Next week: Sales totals from Britney Spears “Circus” and Akon’s “Freedom” will ring in, followed by albums from Brandy and Musiq Soulchild.
