T-Pain’s “Thr33 Ringz” were trumped by an American Idol and a country sensation on this week’s Billboard 200. According to Billboard, T-Pain’s “Thr33 Ringz,” featuring “Freeze” with Chris Brown, debuted at no. 4 with 167,000 copies sold. The ‘ringmaster’s’ set was trumped by a strong no.2 debut from David Archuleta (of American Idol fame) who sold 183,000 copies of his self titled debut and “Now That’s What I Call Music’s ” latest CD which moved 172,000 copies placing it at no.3. This week’s real winner was 18-year-old country star Taylor Swift. Swift moved 592,000 copies of her sophomore set, “Fearless,” making the set 2008s best selling country album. Other notable entries this week are albums from Seal, who debuted at no.13 with 45,000 copies of “Soul”; Christina Aguilera who released “Keeps Gettin’ Better,” a collection of hits that debuted at no. 9 with 73,000 copies sold and T.I., whose “Paper Trail” moved another 62,000 copies.
