John Legend is not fond of the tabloids, gossip blogs or constant attention from the media like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan. In a recent interview with the associated press, Legend dismisses the notion that intense media coverage could upgrade his image. “You read about for instance, Britney Spears all the time and her last album didnât even sell that well. You read about Lindsay Lohan all the time her last album didnât sell that well, nor have her movies sold that well, so âI donât think thereâs that strong of a correlation between tabloid coverage and album sales.” Comparing his career to that of rock superstars Coldplay, John Legend goes on to says “You don’t read about Chris Martin everyday in the tabloids, Bruce Springstein, any number of artists.” In related news, John Legend’s third studio album “Evolver,” hit stores this week marking a new beginning for the star who admits to feeling disappointed by his last effort “Once Again.” “One of the things that I was thinking was, âYou know, I wanna go from a theater artist to an arena artist.â And, part of my thinking when I was doing this was what album do I have to make to make that transition? First of all, (I need) to make songs that are going to fill up an arena and feel like they belong in that big space, so I wanted to make bigger sounding songs and more anthemic sounding songs.” Legend’s “Evolver” features Kanye West, Andre 3000, Ne-Yo and Pharrell.
