According to her reps, Pop/R&B singer Kat DeLuna, famously known for her hit single “Whine Up” featuring Elephant Man, have split with Epic Records. DeLunaâs debut album “9 Lives,” sold just 63,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Billboard reports that tracks from the disc have performed well, selling more than 866,000 digital copies. “I am excited to step into a new phase of my career,” DeLuna says in a statement. “As a young artist, I am always looking for innovative ways to expand my opportunities, from recording to performing, and I felt this was the right time to make a change. I truly do appreciate everyone at Epic Records’ support of my career and wish them all the best.” An insider tells Singersroom that DeLuna was released from her contract due to poor sales. In any doubt, the âWhine Upâ star is currently working on her sophomore album with producers like Akon, Jim Jonsin, Red One and J. Bynum, among others.
