R&B star Estelle admits to being frustrated with her label’s decision to pull her hit single “American Boy” off of iTunes — a decision she says ignited more interest. “I hate the fact that I was used as a test, and I told them” Estelle revealed from a tour stop in Texas this week. Even though the test lasted for a short time, Estelle says the test worked to her advantage in the end. “It encouraged so many people to check me out, to find out what I was about. Album sales actually did go up despite the single dropping down.” In related news, the “American Boy” singer has begun work on the follow up to “Shine,” her Mercury Prize nominated album according to the Houston Chronicle. “I’m into Coldplay and Marvin Gaye. That’s what my new album’s going to sound like. I’m going to sample Marvin Gaye, definitely.”
