Motown is marking its 50th Anniversary with a series of releases and events, however, the legendary label wants your vote for its “Motown 50” collection. According to Billboard, Universal Motown Records Group is marking 50 years of its Motown label with various releases and events leading up to the Jan. 2009 anniversary of the company. Now it has emerged that the public will get to vote on the track-listing of the “Motown 50” album, a definitive collection that will be released on Dec. 1. In the U.K., Universal Music has partnered with Poll The People, a Brighton-based global online polling community, to determine a track-listing for the British edition. Users can pick their top five from a suggested list of more than 200 songs by artists including Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Four Tops, the Temptations and the Supremes. The closing date for votes is Oct. 13. For the U.S. release, fans can vote on the official Motown site (http://classic.motown.com) for the track-listing on the American edition.
