While many of us in the United States are getting acclimated with Ne-Yo’s new album “Year of The Gentleman,” the singer/songwriter has already caused mayhem in Japan where his record is #1 across the board. According to news reports, Ne-Yo’s album flew off the shelves in Japan in its first week (released Sept.11) sending “Year of the Gentleman” straight to the top of the Japanese International Chart. Ne-Yo’s third studio album is also #1 on the Japan iTunes combined chart while “Closer” and 11 other songs by the “Miss Independent” singer hold down Napster’s top 20 chart in Japan. In response to the love from Japanese fans Ne-Yo has locked in a couple of tour dates in January. Slated to kick off on January 9th, Ne-Yo will make stops in Tokyo and Nagoya, Japan according to Pollstar. (see details below.) In related news, Ne-Yo premiered a video for his new single “She Got Her Own” (a remix for “Miss Independent”) featuring Jamie Foxx and Fabolous Friday.
