Laila Ali and her husband, former Bears receiver Curtis Conway, have become parents of a baby boy. In a statement released Thursday, Ali announced the birth of Curtis Muhammad Conway, Jr. who becomes the couples first child. Named after his father and Ali’s legendary father Muhammad Ali, the newborn was born on August 26th. While Ali, 30, had planned to have a natural, home birth, “there were some surprises during labor that altered Laila’s birth plan,” her publicist, Thea Ellis said in a statement. She declined to elaborate. “Mama and baby are resting,” Ali wrote on her Web site, where she blogged throughout her pregnancy. Ali married NFL player Curtis Conway last summer, following a stint on Dancing With The Stars.
