It was a close call for Hip Hop star The Game today, his third album entitled “L.A.X.” came within 2,000 copies of hitting the #1 spot on the Billboard 200. Shortly after Nielsen Soundscan revealed The Game’s new album as the top selling album of the week, a new report was sent out showing Rock band Slipnot at #1 with just 2,000 copies over The Game. Despite the number mix up, The Game landed firmly at #2 with just over 238,000 copies sold. Further down the chart, Solange Knowles, who released the sophomore effort “Sol-Angel and The Hadley St. Dreams” last week landed at #9 with 46,000 copies sold, smashing rumors that she had not made the top 10 earlier this week. In related news, Matthew Knowles’ recently issued a statement about his daughter’s new album and vision. According to the AP, he confesses that some of her final choices may have taken away marketing value from the album, but he was convinced by his daughter’s passion. “It’s kind of like if you’ve got a power forward, you just give them the ball, right?” he says. “I don’t tell them what play to run, you just give them the ball.”
