R&B singer Avant has set October 28th as the release date for his self-titled Capitol Records debut. Following the 2006 effort “Director,” Avant teamed up with Trackmasters (LL Cool J), Antonio Dixon & Eric Dawkins a.k.a Anonymous Entertainment (Fantasia) and The Architects (Missy Elliott) for “Avant,” the first release under a new deal with Capitol Records. As previously reported on Singersroom, Avant signed with Capitol Records earlier this year following a financial battle with Geffen Records where he released several hit albums. “Once I got out the situation, I found out a lot of people wanted to deal with me. I had to make the right decision. Capitol was a better look for me. I had people that believed in me as an artist, plus they have the machine to take me to the next level.” Lead by the single “When It Hurts,” which hit radio earlier this month, “Avant”- the album, displays the singer at his soulful, introspective best. In related news, Avant is currently overseas performing for troops in Iraq. The platinum selling R&B star was motivated and honored to make the trip in order to raise the morale of U.S. Armed Forces stationed in Iraq and Kuwait. Singing in secret locations to audiences of undisclosed sizes, Avant is literally going the extra mile for his country and his career. But his sincerity and his passion are nothing new. Avant’s self titled fifth studio album is set for release October 28th. A video for “When It Hurts” has been shot by famed director Billy Woodruff.
