Usherâs Atlanta based voter registration campaign went so well that other cities are picking up the program between August 21st and November 4th. The âI Canât But You Canâ initiative coaches young people who aren’t old enough to vote in motivating voting-age adults to become voters. More than 400 Detroit-area youth are expected to participate in a voter registration drive and rally on August 21st, when Usher himself will also be on hand to rally 6,000 poll workers at a special picnic in their honor. Usher established the I Can’t But You Can program last month as part of his 4th Annual Camp New Look in partnership with Rev. Joseph Lowery. More than 350 young people completed a curriculum based on the election/voting process and registered nearly 1,000 voters during the inaugural program. The I Can’t But You Can campaign is expected to roll on to other cities including New Orleans, Cleveland, Atlanta, New York, Boston, Oakland, and Los Angeles on September 27th.
