There is a possibility of a âJackson brothersâ reunion this fall after all. The legendary group will be honored at BMIâs annual Urban Awards in September. According to a release issued Monday, an all star tribute is planned to honor the Jacksons as they become BMI Icons. So far, all of the brothers, with the exception of Michael, have confirmed their attendance at the event, to be held September 4th in Beverly Hills. The ceremony will also honor the songwriters, producers and publishers of the most-performed R&B/hip-hop songs of the past year in the BMI repertoire. Starting out as The Jackson 5 in their hometown of Gary, Indiana, siblings Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael first recorded for the Steeltown label in 1968. After signing with Motown Records, the group launched a string of R&B and pop crossover hits beginning with 1969’s “I Want You Back.” When younger brother Randy replaced Jermaine in 1976, the group moved to Epic Records. In recent years there have been rumors of a reunion tour which has yet to be confirmed. Sources confirm that all brothers including Randy and Jermaine will be honored. Inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame in 1997, The Jacksons join such previous BMI Icons as James Brown, Isaac Hayes and Carlos Santana.
