R&B singers Usher and Rihanna and Hip Hop heavyweight Shawn âJay-Zâ Carter were in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, Saturday night to help kick of the countries THISDAY Music and Fashion Festival. Rihanna, who was the first act for the night, reportedly sent the crowd in a frenzy as she lead her performance with âPon de Replay,â the first hit that brought her international fame. She continued the uproar by reeling out hits from all her albums, including âTurn Me On Boy,â âShut Up and Driveâ and a rendition of Bob Marleyâs âThis is Love.â She closed with her biggest hit to date, âUmbrella,â joined by Jay-Z on stage. Jay-Z, who was performing for the second time at the THISDAY Music and Fashion Festival, stayed on and proved why he has remained a favorite of music lovers in Nigeria over the years. He performed hits like âShow Me What You Got,â and a one sided rendition of âCrazy in Love,â since Beyonce didnât make the trip. Up next Usher, who had the audience eating from the palm of his hands with his popular hits and incredible footwork as he danced on the stage. His latest âLove In The Clubâ sent event-goers wild as they sang and dance with him. On the negative note, Usherâs performance was temporarily marred by violence when a fight broke out in the crowd, according to reports. No one was seriously injured.
