R&B singer/songwriter Lyfe Jennings kicked off the first concert of his summer tour over the weekend. Billed as the âBaby Iâm A Starâ Tour, the over 20-city tour will make stops in New Orleans, West Hollywood and Baltimore before coming to a close August 2nd in Miami. Jennings, a now platinum selling R&B artist, will tour in support of his recent release âLyfe Changeâ which spawned the hit singles âCops Upâ and âNever Never Land.â In conjunction with the tour, Lyfe is partnering with Music World Entertainment to launch a program in support of the “Heightened National Response to the HIV/AIDS Crisis Among African Americans,” an effort led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to promote awareness, education and testing across the United States in response to the alarming HIV/AIDS crisis among African-Americans. The program named It’s Real. Preserve Your Lyfe! will be activated in each of the 22 cities where Lyfe’s tour will be making stops. As part of the initiative, local health facilities will be distributing “Lyfe Change” kits featuring important HIV/AIDS prevention and education resources as well as copies of Lyfe’s song, “It’s Real,” which addresses the epidemic. Lyfe, whose third album Lyfe Change debuted at #1 on the Billboard R&B charts in April, has been particularly vocal about promoting HIV/AIDS awareness since the start of his career through his music and other programs including BET’s Rap-it-Up campaign. He says, “I have to use my voice to help raise awareness so that we can really bring an end to this thing. This disease has affected all of our lives, but we can definitely do things to prevent its spread and to protect ourselves.” Tickets for Lyfeâs âBaby Iâm A Starâ Tour are on sale now (see the full schedule below).
