Philadelphia-born soul and R&B legend Frankie Beverly will be honored as the first of new inductees in years to the Philadelphia Walk of Fame. The front-man of the legendary group Maze, will receive a bronze plaque at the ceremony today in front of the Merriam Theater with a sidewalk installation to follow on the Avenue of the Arts. According to Philadelphia Daily News, fellow musicians Three Degrees and Kim Sledge and DJs Doug Henderson and Joe “Butterball” Tamburro will join folks from the Philadelphia Music Alliance and city dignitaries in saluting Beverly. The second phase of Beverly’s blowout kicks off this evening, as he and the group headline a show at the Mann, with special guest Chaka Khan.
