R&B songstress Amerie has officially inked a deal with Def Jam. The âTake Controlâ singer whose last release 2007’s âBecause I Love Itâ reportedly looks forward to taking a new direction under the Def Jam imprint. Rumors of the impending deal kicked off earlier this year and gained traction on the net last week after Britainâs Daily Star newspaper reported that the singer had closed the deal. According to a Def Jam official yesterday, the ink has dried on the new contract which finds Amerie in the company of international sensation Rihanna, R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo and a host of other notable Def Jam talent. Between 2002 and 2007, Amerie released three albums under Columbia Records which included the gold certified 2002 debut âAll I Have.â According to the Britain Daily Star, the songstress is hoping the new contract with Def Jam will help boost her career to even greater heights. “She was offered a deal too good to turn down and the promise to build upon her reputation for classy and sexy R&B.”
