Eleven-year-old R&B newcomer Jamia Simone Nash has signed with The Firm for management and for film/TV representation with Creative Artists Agency (CAA). The Atlanta native, a 2003 winner of the Apollo Theater Talent Search, became the youngest African-American to perform at the Academy Awards this year when she sang the Oscar-nominated theme song from the film âAugust Rushâ with the Impact Repertory Theater of Harlem. Her earlier appearances include the âTonight Show with Jay Leno,â âGood Morning Americaâ and Nickelodeonâs animated series âThe Backyardigans.â Nash is now set to perform during the AARP 50th anniversary event âSongs of Soul and Inspiration.â Taking place June 21 at Phillips Arena in Atlanta, the two-hour soireeâdirected by producer/choreographer Debbie Allenâincludes among its headliners Chaka Khan, Yolanda Adams, Queen Latifah and CeCe Winans.
