R&B singer Corinne Bailey Raeâs husband Jason Rae has died of a suspected drug overdose, after his body was discovered at a flat in Leeds. West Yorkshire police said: “At 3.15pm yesterday (Saturday) the body of a 31-year-old man was found at a flat in the Hyde Park area.â “A 32-year-old man was arrested for supplying controlled substances and has since been released on police bail.” A post-mortem was inconclusive and police are waiting for the results of toxicology tests. Rae, a saxophonist with the Haggis Horns, was due to play a gig at the HiFi Club in Leeds on Sunday night. The club confirmed that the concert has been cancelled. The Haggis Horns are described on the band’s Myspace page as “an eight-piece live funk extravaganza” who combine funk, soul, hip-hop and afrobeat with jazz virtuosity. The group has performed and recorded with top artists including Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Nightmares On Wax and Corinne Bailey Rae herself. They released their debut album, Hot Damn!, last September.
