A Warner Brothers representative confirmed that Janelle Monae is the latest addition to the Bad Boy Entertainment roster. Monae was first discovered at Kim Porterâs âThree Brown Girlsâ open mic night at Justinâs in Atlanta and created a fan base within Historically Black Colleges & University communities. Prior to joining Bad Boy, Monae was signed to Big Boiâs Purple Ribbon record label. On Purple Ribbon she made her first national debut on the âIdlewildâ movie soundtrack songs âCall The Lawâ and âIn Your Dreams.â Last year Monae released her first album âMetropolisâ on independent label Wondaland Arts Society. She described âMetropolis as ââ¦a daring epic film, the album concern a cybergirl’s struggle to love in the futuristic city of Metropolisâ For Monae’s forthcoming album on Bad Boy, no release date has been schedule.
