After a leading role in ‘Akeelah and the Bee’ with Angela Bassett and Lawrence Fishburne, and a supporting role in ‘Madea’s Family Reunion’ with Tyler Perry, R&B singer/actress Keke Palmer is gearing up for the spotlight again According to Reuters, Palmer has joined Ice Cube in his inspirational sports drama for Dimension Films, ‘The Comeback’. Palmer will play Jasmine Plummer, the first female quarterback in Pop Warner history, who with her teammates draws support from her uncle (Ice Cube) and members of their Illinois town when the team plays in the Pop Warner Super Bowl. Tasha Smith, Jill Marie Jones , Dash Mihok, Matt Craven, and Garrett Morris also have joined the cast. Comedians Earthquake (‘Clerks II’) and Michael Colyar (‘Norbit’) also will appear in the film. Limp Bizkit frontman-turned-director Fred Durst is directing from a script by Doug Atchison (“Akeelah and the Bee”), based on a screenplay by Nick Santora. Palmer is also slated to play rapper Roxanne Shante in the upcoming film on the rap group The Juice Crew, ‘The Vapors’.
