R&B superstar Babyface has recalled the moment he had to tell his kids that he and their mother were separating in a touching new tune. The singer, real name Kenneth Edmonds, has dedicated âNot Going Nowhereâ to the two children he fathered with his ex-wife Tracey Edmonds, who is now romancing actor-comedian Eddie Murphy. Babyface, who has always maintained the marriage split was amicable, reportedly told his sons Brandon and Dylan Michael that mom and dadâs separation was a painful experience. In the new song, Edmonds sings, “I’m still best of friends with your mom/Have no doubt that we’ll still make time to hang out/I promise I won’t let you down.” Babyface has recently signed a new deal with Island Records to release his new album, âPlaylist,â consist of eight cover songs which includes Bob Dylanâs âKnockinâ On Heavenâs Door,â Dan Fogelbergâs âLonger,â Dave Loggin’s “Please Come To Boston”, Bread’s “Diary”, Jim Croce’s âTime In A Bottle,â Eric Clapton’s âWonderful Tonightâ and James Taylorâs âFire & Rain” and “Shower The People”. “Not Going Nowhere” and “The Soldier Song” are two original works in the album. It is scheduled to be released on September 18, 2007. It will be the first album on the newly re-launched Mercury Records Label.
