R&B group Floetry has reformed following one member’s decision to quit the duo. Marsha Ambrosius, is continuing with the band which moved to the US in 2000, but will now be joined by MTV personality and rapper Amanda Diva. Amanda Diva tells Singersroom exclusive how she became the new member: “It was really random. My home-girl Angela Yee knows Marsha’s management and they were talking off the cuff one day and expressed that they were looking to get Floetry back up and running. She asked if it was something I’d be interested in. I said, “Yea of course” and she suggested it to them. Next thing, I got a call from her mgmt, wanting to meet up. They spit their idea to me then Marsh and I met. We clicked from jump.” Former member Natalie Stewart has moved on to part take in her own projects in the UK. Floetry reportedly split after Marsha found Natalie’s Myspace page contained the line Life After Floetry. Writing on her Myspace page Marsha said: “You see, myspace.com tells you what you need to know about a person, or what you want them to know about you… whilst Nat nor myself were communicating, I took the easy road and I went to check out her page coz a fan hit me with the link like wtf!!! this was early this year… so i see on Nat’s personal page “Life After Floetry… Natalie Stewart is… Super Heroine…” and I’m like OK, she got her Code Records poppin, she was doin her… grown woman, had to respect the M.O… so I’m back in Philly, she’s in the UK, we’re not talking, I see “Life After Floetry…” to me, she left…” What’s next for Floetry, well the newly reformed group will be hitting the road in a city near you. Amanda tells Singersroom, “We still weren’t sure if the tour was for real. A month later we saw the tour dates and it was like, “Oh shit!” We got in the lab in Philly and started working. I already know the cats in the band because they’ve played for me a couple times in the past so the pieces were there for things to come together.”
