R&B crooner Ne-Yo introduced new songs from his upcoming album âBecause Of Youâ during an intimate performance last night (April 25.) at a Hennessy sponsored party at New York club Arena. âBecause Of You,â is due May 1 via Def Jam and the title single has been steadily climbing the Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Def Jam urban honchos Shawn âJay-Zâ Carter and Jermaine Dupri were in the house as Ne-Yo performed tracks from his freshman release, âIn My Own Words.â Before he blessed the crowd with cuts from his new set he explained that while his debut was about his first major relationship, “Because of You” is about reminiscing on the demise of that relationship. Ne-Yo will be touring this summer â stay tune for dates. In other Ne-Yo news, the singer recently told The Ave Magazine in the Spring 2007 cover story that he always dreamed of signing to a major record label as a singer, but it wasnât a money thing because he had money in the bank before signing with Def Jam. “The songwriting thing was doing really well for me. I already made a million dollars before I even got to Def Jam, so it’s not like I needed what they were offering. I wanted it, but I didn’t need it,” says Ne-Yo.
