Nelly Furtado was the highlight of the night at Canada’s 2007 Juno Awards this weekend where she hosted and performed a cameo of her 3 hit songs (as well as one of her up-coming hits) and took home every award she was nominated for. The awards show opened with Furtado, dressed in a black tutu adorned with feathers, floating down from the ceiling to the stage in a nod to her 2001 breakthrough hit “I’m Like a Bird.” She made several costume changes during the evening and had a chance to show her sillier side during a few skits. Furtado won album of the year for “Loose”, song of the year for “Promiscuous” and the JUNO fan choice award, in addition to the artist of the year and pop album of the year she won the night before. A total of seven awards were presented during the two-hour CTV telecast from the Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The majority of the awards â similar to the Grammys in the United States â were handed out during a gala dinner on Saturday night. Jacksoul won R&B/soul recording of the year for “mySOUL.”
