R&B singer Monica gets personal with her new album, ”The Making of Me.” The disc, scheduled for release Sept. 19th, is the first album from Monica since her 2003 ”After the Storm.” Producers and artists recruited for this album include Dem Franchize Boyz, Missy Elliott and Jermaine Dupri. According to J Records, Monica will share some of her painful moments with fans, including the suicide of an ex-boyfriend. But the album also includes some upbeat jams, which you can hear from the lead single ”Everytime Tha Beat Drop.” ” ‘Beat Drop,’ for me, is a real good representation of where I’m from,” Monica, an Atlanta resident, said in a press release. ”We all just want to dance and have fun. This is what I live. What I dance to. What I listen to when I’m in my car. So I thought, ‘Why wouldn’t I sing over it?’ ” Monica, who made her singing debut when she was just a teen, is best known for the hits ”Angel of Mine,” ”Don’t Take It Personal” and ”The Boy Is Mine” collaboration with Brandy.
