A Ne-Yo concert scheduled at a Catholic girls school has been cancelled because of his raunchy lyrics. Students at the Mercy High School in Detroit, Michigan, had won the show, which was set to take place today (May 10th), in a seat-belt use competition sponsored by radio station WKQI FM. But after discovering the words to his hit In My Own Words are of a sexual nature, authorities at the school decided he would be a bad influence on students. Principal Carolyn Witte says, “The bottom line is I have to make decisions based on what I think is going to be in line with what we are, what we teach, and how we’ve dialogued with students.” Distraught student Siobhan Jones says, “Everyone was really excited. Everybody was singing his songs in the hallway.” Ne-yo’s song is too sexual? What’s next! come on principal, give the students there concert.
