Michael Jackson’s camp blasted reports about his alleged drug use and threatened legal action against the media in a statement released by his spokesperson Friday (December 9). Responding to a National Enquirer report that Jackson was hospitalized in Bahrain last week after a drug overdose, his spokesperson said, “Michael Jackson has been working with several artists recording his Katrina Relief song, and with me all week, including today. He is doing fine. I have never seen him happier or healthier.” The statement went on to say that the sources who are feeding this information to the press and the reporters who rely on them should “begin hiring good attorneys.” In their story, the National Enquirer claimed that Jackson had overdosed on Demerol and alcohol. Jackson has had problems with prescription drugs in the past and was in rehab briefly in 1993 for an addiction to painkillers.
