Singer/model Cassie Ventura dropped the single, “Love A Loser,” late this simmer (2017), and to extend the record, she releases a 10-minute companion short film, which details the creative process of the song. The clip, directed by Harrison Boyce and executive produced by Diddy, highlights the highs and lows of Cassie’s relationship with a man, played by Cristoforo Donadi, who has no plans and lives life freely, including bouts with drugs and alcohol.
“I feel like sometimes I’m just so consumed with work and just trying to make my life exactly the way I want it that I miss out on so many pieces of it,” Cassie says, explaining why she fell for Cristo. “I wanna be free.”
“He’s like an aggravating high,” she later adds. “Like the high that you want to go away, but that you never want to go away. It creeps up on you; has you do some crazy shit that you would never do… and then it leaves you in the middle of the night.”
In the dramatic visual, Cassie and her lover hit the open road, party with strangers, and steals from a convenience store.
“It’s easy because there’s no plan,” she says. “I kind of like that. Just something about it is different. He just makes me feel at ease. When I’m with him, I feel like I’m escaping. I feel like I get to disappear and I don’t have to deal with all the regular bullsh*t.”
In the end, this life was too free for Cassie, who tells her man, “that’s why I don’t f*ck with you,” before leaving and experiencing the desert and stars by her alone.
