Bobby Brown is not here for TV One’s upcoming biopic about his late daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
‘Bobbi Kristina’ is set to premiere on Sunday, Oct. 8, and according to E! News, Bobby filed a lawsuit to stop it from airing. In court documents, Bobby claims that the TV One defendants “knowingly and maliciously” used his persona and life in the movie and promotion of the film.
He also claims the movie “contains defamatory and untrue depictions” of him “being violent” towards the late Whitney Houston.
Bobby also maintains that the TV movie shows incorrect depictions of his relationship with Bobbi Kristina, suggesting that he “does not love his daughter.”
In addition, Brown claims producers used information from his 2004 Bravo TV reality show, Being Bobby Brown, without his permission.
Along with shutting down the film, Bobby is seeking over $1 million in damages.
TV One released the following statement to E! News in response:
We are aware of the reported legal challenge by Bobby Brown regarding the film Bobbi Kristina and are taking appropriate steps on behalf of our network to respond. While we are not able to address our legal response at this time, we stand by the film and its representation of this period in Bobbi Kristina’s life.”
Joy Rovis (“Stuck in the Middle”) stars as Bobbi Kristina Brown and “Real Housewives Of Atlanta” star and singer/actress Demetria McKinney will play her mother, the late Whitney Houston. “The Wire’s” Hassan Johnson will play her father Bobby Brown, and Vivica Fox will play her aunt, Pat Houston.
The film will follow Bobbi Kristina’s life as she tries to find an identity in her mother’s superstar shadow, while managing her toxic relationship with boyfriend Nick Gordon (who many believe contributed to her death on July 31, 2015).
