Sources said photos of Rihanna were going to hit the net and late Thursday night, the word alleged became real for fans, critics and everyone as Rihanna’s bloody lips and visible contusions put all doubts to rest. The photo obtained by TMZ (below), has sparked not only outrage but an investigation within the Los Angeles Police Department, who officially confirmed that the photo is indeed real Thursday evening: “The unauthorized release of a domestic violence photograph immediately generated an internal investigation. The Los Angeles Police Department takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of victims of domestic violence. A violation of this type is considered serious misconduct, with penalties up to and including termination.” (Click here for the full statement.) At press time, TMZ had not spoken on how it obtained the photo or who took it, but the picture is all too real for fans. Reactions from fans have included statements like “My jaw literally dropped when I saw this” to “It’s not as bad as they made it seem”. In related news, Rihanna’s family has came forward this week stating “I don’t want her to go back to him, I don’t think anyone does.” Speaking with PEOPLE, relatives went on to say that Chris Brown “flew so far under everyone’s radar that we just didn’t think he was that type.” “He was always looking after her needs making sure she was happy.” At press time Rihanna’s camp had not released a statement related to the released photo and impending investigation.
