In a near shocking feat, “Rockferry” singer Duffy beat out Coldplay at the 2009 Brit Awards Wednesday ! According to BRIT organizers, Duffy nabbed three BRIT Awards during a special ceremony at London’s Earls Court including awards for British Album and British Breakthrough Act. “It’s a good job my mother didn’t have a boy,” Duffy said when picking up her first prize of the night — the award for British Female. Surprisingly Coldplay, who rocked the UK Albums Chart for several weeks in 2008, went home empty handed at the BRITs. In addition to Coldplay’s loss, “I Am… Sasha Fierce” singer Beyonce lost to Katy Perry in the International Female field. The 2009 BRIT Awards aired live on ITV1 and featured performances from U2, Estelle and The Ting Tings. Recent ‘X-Factor’ star Alexandra Burke and Pop Icon Kylie Minogue were also among those who attended the BRITs.
