British powerhouse Rachel Kerr releases her ten-track mixtape titled Unboxed to showcase the diversity of her songwriting ability.
More than simple covers, Rachel takes popular instrumentals to share her inspirational message and heartfelt lyrics through her soulful, and at times, Caribbean-inspired vocals. Using MJ’s “Liberian Girl,” Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black,” Fantasia’s “Lose To Win” Aaliyah’s “More Than A Woman,” Bryson Tiller’s “Exchange” and more Kerr adds her own flare, melody, and lyricism for a refreshing offering.
When asked about the mixtape’s title “Unboxed” the singer said, “Everyone experiences being limited in one way or another, but at this stage in my life I’ve seen so many achievements that I’m convinced nothing is impossible. Now, I’m all about breaking barriers, smashing ceilings and soaring outside of human imposed boxes.”
This autumn and spring, Rachel is set to tour the USA, Africa, the Caribbean and more.
