Back in May, Heather Headley signed on to play Suge Avery in the Broadway musical The Color Purple, now it’s another powerhouse’s turn.
According to The Playbill, Legendary Dreamgirls alum Jennifer Holliday will take over the role beginning on October 4th. Headley’s final performance will take place on Sunday, October 2.
Holliday said in a press release, “I was deeply moved by this truly uplifting production of The Color Purple and I am highly honored and absolutely thrilled to be joining this extraordinary cast. Nothing compares to performing before a Broadway audience and I can’t wait to return to the Broadway stage, where I started my career over 35 years ago.”
