Erykah Badu lets her diva attitude loose as “Sara Bellam” in the video for “Maiysha (So Long)”, a collab with pianist Robert Glasper from Glasper’s Everything’s Beautiful album to honor the late, great jazz musician Miles Davis.
Film in the 1960s French film style, Badu flipped the original lyrics to the track to fit the narrative of this short film in which she plays “a neurotic, beatnik chanteuse” whom takes out her frustrations on her lover and keyboardist.
Drummer Rashad “Ringo” Smith, bassist Braylon Lacy and trumpet player Frédéric Yonnet also appear in the video.
