Last night (April 26), D’Angelo paid a moving tribute to Prince by covering his classic “Sometimes It Snows in April” with help from Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum’s cover band, Princess, for the Tonight Show audience.
Sitting at a piano and surrounded by purple lighting, D’Angelo tenderly sings the Prince classic, and when listening to the words, it’s very fitting. D’Angelo even alters some of the lyrics in remembrance of the late music icon: “I often dream of heaven, and I know Prince is there,” he sings before having an emotional moment.
