WE Tv has giving the thumbs up for a second season of “Growing up Hip Hop.”
The series follows the adult children of hip-hop vets; Rev Run’s daughter Angela Simmons, Master P’s song Romeo Miller, Damon Dash’s son Dame Dash Jr., James DeBabrge’s daughter Kristinia DeBarge, “Pepa” Denton from Salt-N-Pepa and rap icon Treach from Naughty By Nature’s daughter Egypt Criss, and the late Run D.M.C. DJ, Jam Master Jay’s son TJ.
Marc Juris, president of WE tv, said in a statement, “We’re excited for another season and the opportunity to continue watching these talented and driven individuals pursue their own definitions of success, emerging from the shadows of their famous parents and the hip hop empires they were born into. This show connected with viewers immediately, because these characters and stories are real and relatable, and we can’t wait to bring the fans more.”
According to Nielsen, the show averaged 966,000 viewers a week during its six-week run. No word on an air date for the season two premiere.
