Just in time for Black History Month, guitar-playing duo Vintage Nation drop “Cuz I’m Black,” a video that celebrates black culture and black figures in history, sports and entertainment through a positive and empowering message.
On the song, lead singer and guitarist Atia Boggs (a.k.a “Ink”) and guitarist Joseph Davis (a.k.a “Jow”) proudly praise the culture. “Why you so talented? Cuz I’m black / Why you so courageous? Cuz I’m black / Why you so amazing? Cuz I’m black / Why you so dangerous? Cuz I’m black…Melanin, oh sweet, melanin, ain’t nothing better than all this melanin,” they resound on the track.
The video features Boggs when she met Lauryn Hill, and photos and video clips of multiple African Americans alive and dead, famous and not famous, from the present and in history who have impacted the culture.
Currently, Vintage Nation has been working with the super producer Polow Da Don to create their album, as well as writing for Monica, Tamar Braxton, Usher, Rick Ross, Trae The Truth, and more.
