If you were wondering if Jennifer Hudson’s debut would sound like an extension of ‘Effie White (Dreamgirls)’ you’ll be in for a surprise according to the Academy Award-winning singer/actress. “I took my time to find the right songs. I have been blessed by being able to work with great songwriters on my album like Diane Warren, Robin Thicke and Ne-Yo” says Hudson whose self titled debut hits stores Tuesday, Sept. 30. Hudson’s debut is already receiving praise from fans and critics alike. “Itâs infectious in the way that all singles should be. You wonât be able to get it out of your head” says Fox News, referring to Hudson’s “If This Isn’t Love,” a song written by Brian Seals, Terry Thomas and Theron Thomas. Hudson’s most recent song “I’m His Only Woman” featuring fellow American Idol Album Fantasia Barrino has also been well received thus far online. “She might be Aretha Franklin in waiting” says Roger Friedman of Fox. Other notable tracks on the singer’s album include the Robin Thicke produced “Giving Myself Over To You” and “Can’t Stop The Rain.” Ludacris and T-Pain make guest appearances on the project also. In related news, Hudson says there is one singer who has kept her going over the years — Whitney Houston. “I sang a Whitney song on âAmerican Idolâ and we have been in contact ever since. I wouldnât be here without her. There has been nothing better than having her support. Jennifer Hudson (self titled) hits stores and online retailers Tuesday, Sept. 30.
