Bobby Brown’s memoir “My Prerogative” was in the works before his daughter Bobbi Kristina’s untimely death in July (2015), but including his thought process in the book throughout the mourning stage helped him, he says.
According to People, the book will detail the singer’s life growing up in Boston, his New Edition days, marriage to the late Whitney Houston, and more.
“Right after I signed on to write my story, I went through one of the most agonizing traumas I had ever experienced with the death of my daughter [Bobbi Kristina Brown],” Brown writes in a press release. “But I was surprised by how therapeutic it was to work on this project, to look at the entire arc of my life and to realize that although there has been considerable pain, I have also been incredibly blessed.”
Brown has expressed guilt regarding his daughter’s passing in the past. A source told Daily Mail Online earlier this year, “Bobby has so much guilt that it is eating him up every day. He told me he should have insisted Krissy get help for her drug addiction, and he should have forced Nick Gordon to move out of her townhouse and leave her alone — legally, if necessary.”
Senior Editor Denise Oswald of publishing company Dey Street Books adds,“His music, both with New Edition and in his incredible solo career, defined an era, but his life — full of epic highs, wild romance, and crushing lows— has been the subject of endless speculation and debate.”
June 2016 is when “My Prerogative” is set to release.
